Releases needed for motor vehicle registrations:  

In order to obtain a release immediately, you must pay the full amount of motor vehicle taxes for any vehicle on which you are/have been a registered owner, with cash, Bank Check, or Money Order in the Revenue Collector’s office during business hours.  If you pay online, the tax release take effect after closing of the next business day.  For example, if you pay online on Tuesday, a release will be processed after close of business on Wednesday (or the following business day if that Wednesday is a holiday).  If you pay online on Thursday, the release will be processed after close of business on Monday (or the following business day if that Monday is a holiday).  

A DMV release for taxes paid with a personal or business check may not be released for up to 10 days following receipt of payment.   

Where to Make Tax, Sewer Use or Water Bill Payments

There are four primary ways to pay these bills:

Drop Box:                   The Night Drop Box is located to the right of the Main Entrance to the Town Hall.  The drop box is opened at 8:00 a.m. on business days.

 

In Person:                   The Tax Collector/Revenue Collector Office

Online:           https://www.mytaxbill.org/inet/bill/home.do?town=sterling

                        Fees apply:     eCheck:  $2.00 minimum fee, up to $10,000.

                                                               $10.00 fee if over $10,000.

Debit or Credit:  2.5% of total transaction, minimum 

   fee of $2.00.

                        (Note:   if paying Sewer or Water payments, you must have your bill number)

The Revenue Collector's office mission is to assist in maintaining the fiscal stability of the Town by ensuring the timely collection and recording of all revenues through the diligent application of State Statutes, regulations and other enforcement aids, while assisting the public in understanding the taxation process and procedures and maintaining an effective and cordial relationship with the general public.

Sterling Fire District

Sterling Public Water
